Terrance Hughes is a funny and charming bastard with a modest and humble spirit and he’s not bad looking either. Originally from St. Louis, Mo, this self-taught artist has moved from state to state, befriending other artist and honing his skill in painting and drawing to become the artist that you are bearing witness to today. His interest in art started at an early age when he would try his best to duplicate the album covers from his mother collection as well as following the teachings of the late Bob Ross (R.I.P.). After graduating from high school he began moving from state to state like a wild gypsy or a nomad or maybe some crazy homeless guy. First stop, exotic Baltimore where he did nothing, and then back to St. Louis to figure out why he moved to Baltimore. After much thought it was off to New York City where he again did nothing. Sure, he was working on his art but he wasn’t very good back then and if you were to ask him he’d say he sucked. Six months later he was back in St. Louis and as restless as ever to escape his mid-western prison. That escape came in the form of San Diego, California where a group of friends from St. Louis had recently relocated themselves. Once there he worked in an art supply store with other artist. This proved to be valuable to his development in technique and knowledge of art supplies and history. But this wasn’t enough for our hero he craved more so after two years of San Diego he moved again… yes again to San Francisco. He took a job working in an art store yet again (hey… the discounts and free shwag helps) to be around like-minded people and to network. It wasn’t long afterwards that he began doing group shows and selling his work in the city by the bay. There he stayed for four and a half years until he felt that it was time to give New York another try…
